Keeping It Simple … Silly?

As I journey through the recovery process of changing my way of thinking the phrase “Keep It Simple Silly” comes to mind, along with “Easy Does It”  and “Think, Think, Think”. Now that I’ve officially obtained through a daily process, one day at a time…complete sobriety (this includes my thinking and behaviors towards others) and been released from most of my obsessive behaviors, I’m getting a bit more comfortable with the woman that I really am.  Yup. Skirts, dresses to my ankles, cardigan sweaters, all the graying hair… and wrinkles. The best part however, my mind is a beautiful thing.

How in God’s name could I screw up what was intended to be used for better things over the years? Easy. I have a tendency to complicate things. It’s that simple. Silly me. Rather like a glass of water, a lemon and a spoon of sugar. I try to make jello whan I’m supposed to make lemonade. I didn’t realize that I didn’t have all the ingredients…or perhaps I expected the ingredients to appear out of thin air just because I believed I needed these. We get what we are intended to get. (Or the Universe supplies what we need) When it’s time to make jello…or lemon bundt cake…whatever it is, then the ingredients will be supplied. Until then folks, it’s lemonade.

By the way…I believe in the half full glass. Add the ice and wallah! It’s full! Sometimes we think we can do things that we just aren’t ready for. I learned a hard lesson, several actually, this last year. As a writer, artist, poet, lyricist, wanna be playwright…I have some work to do on the inside before the outside world is ready for me.

Have a Great St. Patrick’s Day, Kiss A Blarney Man for Me, or Perhaps an Aussie, and remember…obsessive behaviors, thoughts, are a sure sign that something isn’t right and that you might want to take a look at how to simplify your life through a twelve step program.
